Medication Safety Guidelines: 5 Questions to Ask Your Pharmacist
Whenever a patient is diagnosed with an illness/disease, one of the first lines of treatment are medications and medical supplies in Florida. Whether taking over-the-counter drugs or prescriptions, it is best to be precautious with drug intake. A small mistake may develop dangerous complications.
Keep yourself safe by asking these questions to your pharmacist:
- What’s the specific function of this medication?
It is important to find out the purpose of the medication and what it does to your body. This will also help you understand your medications’ role in the treatment process. - How should this medication be administered?
Be sure to ask what’s the method for the medication intake. Taking medications orally could also have specifications. - For how long should this medication be used?
Just because you’re already feeling better does not necessarily mean that you already need to stop taking your medications. There’s always a timeframe for medication intake. - While taking this medication, are there any other medications and foods that I need to avoid?
There are other medications and foods that could interact with the medication that you’re currently taking. Be sure to also inform your pharmacist if there are medications that you’re already taking. - Does this medication have side effects? What are these?
Some medications have side effects which range from mild to severe. Ask for an advice on how to cope with it or if there are any alternative health products for the medication.
